Wetland Park
Area : 5 acres
The existing lake is within a dense gaothan. The goathan is characterised by narrow streets and a low rise dense built up environment, with no dedicated space to recreate.
The Panchanand Lake, is the only one within the gaothan which give respite to the people. We were approached to “beautify” the lake and create seating areas, garden, and a ganesh visarjan area and a walking track on all the sides with light poles.
The lake, is actually a freshwater inland wetland, which already has concrete edges, negating the ecological role of the lake. The proposal aims to surgically not only enable spaces to recreate, but also channelise storm water these a series of sedimentation ponds, and macrophyte ponds, before it gets released into the lake and soften the edges with native wetland species.
